A Practical Daily Routine for Mild Cognitive Impairment Support

A non-clinical daily structure for people with MCI and caregivers: movement, cognitive challenge, sleep hygiene, and social reinforcement.

Mild Cognitive ImpairmentCaregiver GuideHealthy Aging

Morning anchor

Start with hydration, daylight exposure, and a short orientation cue (date, place, goals for the day).

Midday cognitive block

Use a 15-25 minute cognitively demanding task with clear stop points. For digital tools, prefer consistent timing over sporadic long sessions.

Evening recovery

Reduce cognitive overload, keep sleep and medication routines stable, and avoid late stimulants.

Caregiver note

Consistency and emotional safety generally matter more than maximum difficulty.
